Daring to Challenge

Zara Khan, 3rd Year, PSCT and Anushka Sharma, 2nd Year, MAM pen a tribute to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Today, India stands united in a time of strife to grieve a man who was and will always be admired, by everyone who was ever fortunate enough to know him. The demise of the 10th Prime Minister Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee marks the end of an era, a life devoted to the nation’s upliftment and growth. He made himself an exception from the very beginning including the fact that he is till date the only Non-Congress Prime Minister of India to have completed a full term. From the Kargil War to the Pokhran tests, he always dreamt of taking India to higher pinnacles. His term as PM saw the country shine and place itself in the world map as an upcoming power.

He was the power which provided balance to our Nation in times of turbulence and distress. Not once did he let his countrymen feel forgotten and left out. Our current PM, Mr. Modi recalls him to be a leader ahead of his time, someone who was always compassionate towards the issues of an ordinary man and still stood out as an inspiration to all.

Apart from being a very significant political figure of our Nation, Mr. Vajpayee was also a very well received and appreciated poet. He often used his poetry to address issues of immense importance at various events and gatherings.

These lines penned down by the legend speak volumes about the kind of clarity he had for life. He was someone who was not delusional about the fantasies laid out by the common man, rather derived pleasure out of accepting and embracing the ups and downs offered by this journey, called life.
